Hi Hope some can help me quickly with the following problem. I have a Win 2000 machine that is running AD on a vmware machine. For one or other reason it gives me the following error , You don't have permission to shut down and restart this computer. I am logged in with the admin account.

Hi, this is probably caused by a policy applied to the system: check/correct following policy (you can use rsop for the analysis) Computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\local policies\user rights assignement\shut down the system MCP/MCSA/MCTS/MCITP

There is no policy that was added except for the default policy's. It is also a Machine that was reloaded 2 days ago.

Hi, I also think the following Group Policy can cause this issue. Although this Domain Controller was reloaded recently, please still double check it. Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Shut down the system Default on Workstations: Administrators, Backup Operators, Users. Default on Servers: Administrators, Backup Operators. Default on Domain controllers: Administrators, Backup Operators, Server Operators, Print Operators. If Administrators group is removed, please add it and check the result. If you have antivirus program installed, please also try to disable it temporarily to test the result. In addition, please try to reload a copy of Windows Server 2000 to your VMWare machine to test the issue. If the same issue is encountered, you will need to make sure that the Windows Server 2000 installation source is fine and ask for further assistance from VMWare support.
