MS Product similar to Dameware?
My higher HQs denied us a purchase request for DAMEWARE. The explanation was that there is a comparable MS product that is freely available to the command. It needs to support remote access with local CAC authentication (authentication of the CAC credentials inserted at the local site as opposed to the remote site). Can someone tell me if there is something out there that will do this?

Well, enableing remote desktop services on the clients will allow you (barring networking issues, firewalls, etc..) will allow you to rdp to machines quite nicely. It's free from a client perspective, part of the OS. (Not to be confused with a Ternimal Server which requires licesnsing). RDP allows you to log on with local credentials to the machine, or you can log in via your regular domain account (with correct rights).

Sorry, but you have posted your question in a forum that talk about Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF), then I am moving your post to another forum and I hope you can get some help. But if you want you can try to find other forum by yourself: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ Hope that helps Regards, Cleber Marques Microsoft MVP & MCT | Charter Member: SCVMM & MDOP MOF Brazil Project: Simplifying IT Service Management My Blog | MOF.com.br | CleberMarques.com | CanalSystemCenter.com.br
