MS FTP Client; Get command writes file to system disk before target area
Windows 2003-SP2; When issuing the get or mget in the MS command line FTP, the client writes a temporary file to the system drive first (ie C:) either in user's temp folder or Windows\temp and then copies the file to the target directory. If you're downloading a large file, it will fill up the C: drive & crash the server. Even if it doesn't fill up the system drive, the time it takes the FTP to copy the temporary file to drive that has the available free space your session can timeout. Issuing the "lcd" command for the local target area doesn't keep FTP from writing the file to the system drive first. I've reviewed some forums that mention setting the TMP or TEMP environment variables, but that is not any better if the client continues to write a temporary file first and then copy it to the target area. Is there a override to write the downloaded file directly to the area you specify in the LCD command ?

Hi , This is by behavior, and only option is to change the TEMP and TEMP settings to point to different drive. But again you would see the temp folder creation, with this you can avoid communicating to C drive.
