Hello, our school recently purchased a new server with MS Windows 2012R2. The server is setup and running well. We are trying to connect our 80 Apple clients to the MS server and we are really struggling. There appears to be an SMB incompatibility between the MS server and all the Apple client computers. I've been told that this is a known problem by a couple other technicians.
The Microsoft 'Windows Server Launchpad' is installed on my OS 10.9.5 Mac. Connecting to the MS server from an Apple client machine is so slow and painful as to be rendered useless. Client machines time out or take minutes to open a folder. Interestingly
I can remote control the server without issue using the Microsoft Remote Desktop from the Apple client machine.
It was suggested to me that Acronis has a product called Extreme Z-IP that can correct this issue. Is this the only solution to this problem? Has Microsoft issued a patch that allows us to connect Apple clients to the 2012R2 Server?
Thank you for your suggestions and feedback.
