MMC port for DNS and DHCP Management
We have a firewall between my LAPTOP and DC. I am trying to manage DNS and DHCP from my laptop using MMC but MMC is using a random port every day. Is there a way I can make that port static so that I don’t have to open a new port every day?

Hi Deep_IT, Thanks for post here. Please take time to read the article below: Service overview and network port requirements for the Windows Server system http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832017 You may like to open the port range on firewall to prevent the repetitive operation. If you think that not safety ,you may like to consider Remote desktop connection , so that you just need open one port on your firewall for remote administration . How to enable and to configure Remote Desktop for Administration in Windows Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/814590 How to change Terminal Server's listening port http://support.microsoft.com/kb/187623 Thanks. Hi Deep_IT, I'm afraid you can't change it,TCP 135,445,1024 to 1034 is ports that for customer to remote administration and this is by design . Remote administration http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947792(WS.10).aspx#bkmk_RemoteAdministration Thanks.
