Lync Server (Office Communicator)
I am researching solutions for our Office Communication project that involves VOIP phone systems that will allow us all the advantages of the VOIP features plus having the ability to redirect our office phones to our homes, office chat functions, and any
other business communications. I was directed to look into Office Communicator/Lync Server from Microsoft. I know nothing about it so I thought I'd ask this group.
I presume Lync Server is a communication application server using a windows 2008 operating system. I've been told that Office Communicator is the old term for Lync. Is that correct?
Has anyone deployed this solution? What offers and benefits does it provide for us and especially with regards to integrating a VOIP phone system with it?
Any advice will be appreciated.
