Longhorn VPC Performance
I have a Longhorn B2 VPC VM. The VM is a DC in a domain, and has 1GB of ram. On my Dell Inspiron laptop (2gb of ram 2.2gzh processor, fast disk and running XP SP2/VPC SP1), it runs like a dog. Well, actually, "run" might be overstating the performance! :-)Any clues to getting decent VM performance out of Longhorn? Is it worth trying the Virtual Server add-ons to get beter perf? What about running this under VMware - is it any better??

Yes, you should try the most recent add-ons for Virtual Server 2005 R2. We will also be making an updated version of the add-ons available to our Technical Beta program participants, which should further improve performance.

VM Additions for Vista Beta 2 (also work for Longhorn Server Beta 2) are available from the Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta Program which is accessed viahttp://connect.microsoft.com. Navigate to this site, sign in with a Windows Live Id (previously known as passport), and then click on "Available Connections". You should see the Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta Program as being available, click on the "apply " link, fill in the request and wait a day or two. Once accepted onto this program, it appears under the "My Participation" link off the Connect homepage.
Cheers...
