Linux integration with W2K8 AD Automatic population of Unix attributes?
Hi!
Iam currently studying to become a Network technician with a focus on system integration.
The course i have currently is open systems, our task is to get Linux to integrate with windows ad.
The Identity management for unix has been installed
We have mostly step by step guides because we havent used Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 lts) that much , it
goes reasonably well but on the the question.
When creating a new user in AD does AD populate the unix attributes automaticly? Does AD communicate with the NIS (getting correct UID & GID data) and does
it create a name mapping/translation between SID and UID?
This is a real pain if lets say you have a 100 Linux users you need to manually enter their unix attributes.
To me it seems there must be a better and quicker solution.
Kind regards
Peter
