Licensing in a Domain environment
Hi, I have to plan a domain environment with 3 Windows Servers (2 x 2003 and 1 x 2008). One of them will be TS server, one DC and file server and one dc and exchange server (Server 2008 and exchange). I'll have about 40 users (with mailboxes) and 15 ts users for internal use. How many and what kind of licenses do i need? All users will have Windows 7 and Office 2007-2010. Thanks

As you have mentioned that you ahve got 40 users then why dont you prefer small business server edition its a bundled pack with every thing. One of the most imp thing before purchasing SBS Server is you should know how much your business is going to expand as it supports only 75 users :) In the above scenario you mentioned to have the Dc and exchange server together as a matter of fact its not recommended by microsfot to have both dc and exchange on one sever. http://www.microsoft.com/sbs/en/us/default.aspxhttp://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

I dont know how much they are going to expand, but they dont want SBS. So, I' ll not setup the DC and Exchange together. Now, what about licensing??? Thanks

I suggest contacting Microsoft Licensing Center for detailed explanation. http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/contact-us.aspx Also you can call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/index/worldwide.asp to find contact information in their locations.http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin
