Licensing for IP cameras
This is a tough question for MS alone probably...
Do i need device CALs for IP-cameras?, take this scenario:
single server with 2008, with propietary camera software installed for monitoring and recording, X ammount of IP cameras monitored by said server.
AFAIK i don't need to have a cal as the cameras don't access the server, they're endpoint "devices".
i can see a huge workaround here too if the CALs are required, i just get a single user CAL, assign a single user for the cameras and done...

Hi,
You have camera management software installed on Windows Server 2008 server. Is that right?
If yes, I am afraid that you will need Per-device license for those devices which accessing a Windows Server 2008 instance. If you cannot logon to the device with a user account,
you will not be able to assign per-user CAL for devices.
