Learning Server2003-2008 in a Trial Environment
I just started to work for a Fed. Agency as Project Manager. We are working on building an Enterprise Server and SharePoint to support this effort. My goal is to get a basic server setup at home to support my training and certification efforts. The agency is currently on Server 2003 and Project 2007 with eventual plans to migrate to 2010 for all the applications. In the meantime, I need a Server 2003 trial install, which are no longer available. I have two IBM eServer 345's I bought this exercise and the build images available for those do not support Server 2008. I have an old Windows NT MCSE certification and am somewhat familar with building servers but have been away from it for quite a while as I've been doing IT PM work since 2000. My goal is get certified in the use/adminstration of Project Server and SharePoint as I just a Contractor and would like to take advantage of the opportunity I have to upgrade my skills. Any suggestions on where I go from here... Thanks

If you have an MSDN sub you can download server 2003. If your goals center around sharepoint you might want to ask them here. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/category/sharepoint/ Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional -Microsoft MVP [Windows]

Have you tried this link? You can download Windows 2003 from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/r2/trial/installinstruct.mspx?lc=1033 Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ http://publications.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

I have downloaded the trial versions from the above link, but the instructions say to "Enter the product key exactly as it appears in the order confirmation e-mail you received." However, all of the links that I found to register for the Windows Server 2003 trial product key now redirect to Windows Server 2008 (e.g., http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=49526 from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/R2/trial/default.mspx). Do you know of any other way to obtain the product key for the free trial? Thanks.

hi AFAIK, windows 2003 trial version is no longer supported by microsoft, so you have to rely on either buying a licensed copy of windows 2003 server or use windows 2008 server. In line with dave suggestion , you can use the below virtual labs for share point http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs/bb512933.aspx

If you don’t have a license key already, you won’t be able to get it. Try SharePoint or Windows 2003 Virtual labs: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs/bb539981.aspx Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ http://publications.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
