LDAP Queries Disappearing
Hi Nina, Thanks for the reply. Yes I am talking about the Saved Queries Folder I created a custom MMC and installed ADUC as a snap in (RSAT is installed) Basically what I have done is created 70 or so distinct LDAP queries, these queries fall into multiple categories (ie. computer, Users, Groups, Exchange Related) for organization purposes I created distinct folders within the Saved Queries by right clicking on Saved Queries -> New -> Folder. I then moved queries into those folders and saved the mmc. What's strange is that when I move from folder to folder the queries dissapear !?! Fortunetly as I created them I exported them, if I try to import them back in they seem to stick for a bit until I navigate out of the folder and come back in, this is when the disappear. It's really weird. On a side note if I leave them in the Saved Queries folder I do not see this problem. I will look at the link you provided to see if I am doing something wrong. Thanks, Tom

Hi All, Hope this is the proper forum. I've done some searching but can't seem to find the answer, when creating LDAP queries on my local machine Win 7 I noticed that when I try to organize them into different folders they dissapear. For example I have ten queries for computer objects, I moved them into a folder called computers saved the MMC turned off for the night, came in the next day and they were gone ?? If I leave the queries in the Saved Queries folder I do not have this problem. Can someone point me in the right direction? TIA Tom

Hi Tom, Do you mean the Saved Queries folder in Active Directory Users and Computers? Did you install RSAT (Remote Server Administration Tools) on Windows 7 and launch AD Users and Computers? Please provide us more information on the issue. I noticed that you said “I try to organize them into different folders”, which folders were you talking about? Hi Tom, What do you mean by saying “they seem to stick for a bit until I navigate out of the folder and come back in”? They disappear when viewing other folders under Saved Queries? How about right click the folder created and choose “New” then “Query”? Does the issue occur on one Windows 7 or several Windows 7? Can you create a new MMC to check the results? Thanks. Hi Nina, I've imported some of my backups into the mmc today. I will see if these stay in the folders or if they get removed. Yes the disappear when viewing other folders under the Saved Queries - although I have been unable to determine a pattern as to when they delete themselves. When I right clicked to create a new query is when I noticed the issue. I created a query in my computers folder and all the queries in my other folders disappeared. Haven't had time to test on any other Win 7 boxes other than my own. Will see what happens now that I've imported them back in. Thanks, Tom

Hi Nina, I think I figured it out - will be doing a bit more testing but it may just be related to taskpad views. I need to better understand how taskpads are used when creating multiple folders - there doesn't seem to be a lot of information about them. Thanks, Tom
