Kaspersky scan engine not updating

Windows2003 R2

Exchange 2003 single server

Antigen 9.0 sp2

Need to use Antigen temporarily during a transition.

Installed Antigen 9.0sp2 and haven't been able to get Kaspersky engine to update.  All other engines in release are updating successfully.

I have increased the download timeout from 600seconds to 900seconds.  Also, checked the x86\Kasperspky folder. There are no files and the 'Bin' and 'Package' folders are empty. I would like to get the Kaspersky engine to update.

The following are excerpts from programlog.txt

Mon Jul 01 10:53:19 2013 ( 4644- 4880), "INFORMATION: Attempting to download the Kaspersky scan engine package from http://antigendl.microsoft.com/antigen/x86/Kaspersky.

Mon Jul 01 10:54:15 2013 ( 4644- 4880), "INFORMATION: The Kaspersky scan engine for Antigen has been downloaded"

Mon Jul 01 10:54:16 2013 ( 4644- 4880), "INFORMATION: The Kaspersky scan engine for Antigen has been staged."

Mon Jul 01 10:54:16 2013 ( 6216- 6220), "INFORMATION: Testing the Kaspersky scan engine."

Mon Jul 01 10:54:16 2013 ( 6216- 6220), "ERROR: Unable to load the Kaspersky scan engine. hr = 0x800C0102. An error occurred while loading the Kaspersky scan engine."

Mon Jul 01 10:54:16 2013 ( 4644- 4880), "ERROR: (0x00000002) The system cannot find the file specified. The Kaspersky scan engine test failed. hr = 0x80004005"

Mon Jul 01 10:54:16 2013 ( 4644- 4880), "INFORMATION: The Kaspersky scan engine for Antigen has been rolled back.

I know there is a hotfix rollup that addresses some problem with Kaspersky, but, it only seems to be relative to the ForeFront for Exchange product specifically.  Please advise.  Thank you.

Hi,

first of all you should make sure that you are running the latest build which is rollup 4 for SP2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2508121/en-us).

After that check the following folders for a file named storage520.dat and delete it if it exists, then try a manual update:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky SDK\
  • C:\ProgramData\Kaspersky SDK\

This should fix your problem.

Greetings

Christian
