KMS on Windows Server 2008 R2 not working
Hi, I have a single domain/forest with 3 sites in a virtualized environment; each site has 4 servers (2 DCs, 1 Exchange and 1 File/Print Servers). I have a single KMS host running on my first domain controller. I've verified that my KMS has the appropriate entries in DNS and my firewall has been disabled on all hosts. I've tried numerous times to activate my other Win2k8R2 servers (11 of them) using slmgr /ato and I even installed VAMT 3.0 and 2.0 and keep getting the following message: "The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. The count reported by your Key Management Service (KMS) is insufficient. Please contact your system administrator" Here is the slmgr /dlv output from my KMS host: Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. The error message you posted is stating insufficient count. You need a minimum of 5 Server activations before KMS will start auto-activating. You need to run slmgr /skms Server:Port to manually activate up to 5 servers before things start picking up automatically. For clients you need a minimum of 25 activations. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793434.aspxBe kind and Mark as Answer if I helped.
