KMS host--invalid service name
Did a search for KMS and read other posts, but doesn't seem to fit my situation. Will be as brief as possible.Installed KMS on Server 2008 R2 x64. Tried to run x64 update kb968912 but says "does not apply". Does lack of update cause net stop slsvc to yield invalid service name? I see no software licensing service in Services.I get the 0xC004F074 error on a client when attempting to activate. The slmgr /dlv confirms everything is licensed with correct port (default). Tried to paste that screen in this post but couldn't.I am trying to activate Windows 7 Pro and Ent and am using a KMS B key.thanks for any help.

Hopefully this is helpful, I found another post with same error you have: 1. Uninstall KMS license Key on host - slmgr.vbs /upk 2. Install Windows Server 2008 R2 KMS license key - slmgr.vbs /ipk <Your Key> 3. Activate KMS server online: slmgr.vbs /ato For more information, please refer to the following link: Server 2008 (R1) KMS server to activate Win7 Certifications: MCSA 2003 MCSE 2003

Thanks both of you. Instead of banging my head on 2008 R2, I just ran the update on my previous 2003 host and all is now working. THanks for taking the time.
