KMS client, 2008 R2 Std, 0x8004FE2F
Hello, When I try to activate my 2008 R2 Std KMS client using "slmgr.vbs /ato" it returns an error: 0x8004FE2F The cumulative requests received from clients is zero on the KMS server, though it is listening, port 1688 is allowed, firewall is off, etc. I followed the walkthrough here: http://certcollection.org/forum/topic/8746-setup-a-kms-server/ and it seems simple enough, but I can't figure out why it isn't working. Any help is much appreciated. :D Thanks, Keith

If you do not have at least 25 computers and/or VMs running Windows 6.x operating systems, you cannot use KMS in your enterprise. When I run the Windows6.0-KB968912-v2-x64 update it says, "The update is not applicable to your computer." Logged in as a Domain Admin, perhaps running as a Local Admin (i.e., "administrator") would help, though I doubt it.

Hello KStarr, THe product key installed is for a KMS host not a KMS client, so the error message is indicative of a proxy issue similar to what is in this article 921471 Activation fails when you try to activate Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 over the Internet http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;921471 Thanks, Darrell Gorter This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hi, To activate KMS clients, you should use KMS client setup keys: Operating system edition Product key Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC Edition FKJQ8-TMCVP-FRMR7-4WR42-3JCD7 Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter 74YFP-3QFB3-KQT8W-PMXWJ-7M648 Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 489J6-VHDMP-X63PK-3K798-CPX3Y Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems GT63C-RJFQ3-4GMB6-BRFB9-CB83V Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard YC6KT-GKW9T-YTKYR-T4X34-R7VHC Windows Web Server 2008 R2 6TPJF-RBVHG-WBW2R-86QPH-6RTM4 Regards, Tim

I still can't figure out why the KMS host isn't registering *any* activation attempts, failed or otherwise. Current count: 0. Total requests received: 0. Failed requests received: 0. It's all zero! I must be missing something.

Hi, How many KMS clients have you activated? Did you activate them using the KMS client setup keys in the table below? Operating system edition Product key Windows Server 2008 R2 Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC Edition FKJQ8-TMCVP-FRMR7-4WR42-3JCD7 Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter 74YFP-3QFB3-KQT8W-PMXWJ-7M648 Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 489J6-VHDMP-X63PK-3K798-CPX3Y Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems GT63C-RJFQ3-4GMB6-BRFB9-CB83V Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard YC6KT-GKW9T-YTKYR-T4X34-R7VHC Windows Web Server 2008 R2 6TPJF-RBVHG-WBW2R-86QPH-6RTM4 Please understand KMS clients will not be activated if the count is lower than 5. Since your current count is 0, I am afraid that you activated the computer using a KMS host key instead of a KMS client setup key. Please use the KMS client setup key to activate your KMS clients. To verify whether you activated the computer using a KMS client setup key, please type slmgr /dlv on the KMS client. Please paste the result here. Tim Quan
