KMS Questions - Part 2

Hello All...............I have installed KMS Host with Windows Server 2012 R2 KMS Host Key, Office 2013 KMS Host Key and Office 2010 KMS Host Key. Keys are installed and activated. I have verified that they are showing Status as licensed as well through the command slmgr.vbs /dlv all.  I have following questions:

1.  Keeping in mind the above KMS Host Keys, what OS and Office Products can I activate through them?

2.  Can KMS Host only activate KMS Clients that are installed with VL Media?

3.  Is there different media for KMS and MAK Clients for OS and Office? OR VL Media can be used for both KMS and MAK Activations?

4.  Does VL Media differ from company to company or customer to customer?  Can a VL Media from Company A be used in Company B and activated by the KMS Host in Company B?

Hi Technet Junkie,

1. As far as I know, KMS host key could only activate the corresponding product.

2. No.

3. After OS is installed, we need to install office with another media. KMS and MAK are both used for activation. Yes.

4. About the problem, we could ask Microsoft Volume Licensing Activation Centers for help:

Thanks for the reply.

1.  So, what would be required to activate client OS and Office Products at either KMS Host end or Client Computer end?

2.  What other clients can be activated through it? and what other media are supported?

3.  My question was that if someone has a VL Media (OS and Office both), can it be used for both MAK and KMS activations? Like media would be same, but administrator can choose to activate the Client OS and Office through either KMS or MAK?

4.  Does VL Media differ from company to company or customer to customer?  Can a VL Media from Company A be used in Company B and activated by the KMS Host in Company B?
