KMS Host Placment
We are planning a windows 2008 ADDS Single Forest with 2 Domains logical structure in which the Forest Root domain will be our Resource domain & the other domain will be a tree root domain in a new domain tree that will be used as a User Domain.
The resource domain will be in a single AD site whereas the user domain will span over multiple AD Sites.
We also wish to put up a KMS host service for activating our clinet OS + MS Office.
Were should we place our KMS host?
Will a single KMS host in the resource domain be able to activate Desktop OS + Off App across multiple sites of the user domain or do we need to place a KMS host in the user domain.
If the KMS host is placed in the user domain AD site A, will it be able to activate Desktop OS in AD Site B, C etc.

Hi,
I found these helpful,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793420.aspx
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793434.aspx
The main details are that the KMS host needs to be accessible from both
domains and all of the sites (likely means ensuring routing and
publishing the SRV records in both DNS forward lookup zones, or manually
specifying the KMS host, see
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff793406.aspx ).
I would place the KMS host in the domain and site with the largest
number of clients and servers. From your description, this sounds like
it is likely the user domain in the largest site.
