KMS Client activation error for Window Server 2008 R2
I get an error when trying to activate Windows Server 2008 R2 against my Window Server 2003 KMS Host and the activation count doesn't increase. The KMS Client gives an error that a problem occurred when Windows tried to activate. Error Code 0xC004F074. I see an entry in the event viewer of the KMS host saying an activation request has been processed with the name of the KMS Client, however when I run slmgr -dlv from the KMS Host the activation count did not increase. KMS 1.2 is running on Windows Server 2003 and has activated other KMS Clients. If I run slmgr -dlv from the KMS Host and client I see the Software licensing service version is not the same. The Host is 6.0.6001.16550 and the Client is 6.1.7600.16385, does this mean they are different versions? I've looked at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974998 for this error, however it references KMS 1.2 which should be the version installed. Any ideas how to resolve this KMS Client error or how to verify KMS 1.2 has been installed?
