KMS
Hello All, I have installed a KMS host on Windows 2008 Server using the below commands.slmgr -ipk xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxafter that i gave the below command slmgr -ato and it gave me that if has been sucessfully activated. My question is Can I use Windows 2008 Server for activating both the Windows Vista and Windows 2008 Licenses ? If yes I tried to Input the Windows Vista Client Licenses using the same command on the KMS hostslmgr -ipk then vista key(xxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxx) but it returned with an error code. Thanks

Hello Sabresquad,The Server KMS hosts keys are hierarchical, so the Windows Server 2008 KMS host keys will activate Windows Vista clients.See the table on this link that talks about it.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc308698.aspxThanks,

Hello Darrell, First of all Thanks for the link you have provided and please do understand that I am new to KMS and dont know much about. Please can you answer my question in a simple way.1)The things which I performed in the above post are correct ?? I refered this to do it.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb625087.aspx2) Lets say that I have 25 Vista Licenses can I activate it using the same windows 2008 server which I activated. If yes please let me know the commands and also note that I have also refered the technet documentation and its bit confusing. Please let me know the excat command to activate Vista Licenses from my windows 2008 KMS host. Thanks

Hello Sabresquad,Yes the first set of commands is correct.let's check what you have installed on both the KMS host machine and the KMS client machine.Open an elevated cmd prompt.Right click on command Prompt on the start menu and choose to run as administrator.run slmgr /dlv and report back the output.Do this on the machine you activated and on one of the Windows Vista KMS clients machines. Thanks,
