KB2903939 Fails

The KB2903939 Windows update is failing to install on our SCVMM server.  If fails with the error code: 0x80070057.  Some general searches have suggested trying:

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I've also run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r without luck.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Same here Windows 8.1 Pro N x64. After downloading the update, computer restarts and then gives the message "We were unable to complete the updates. Undoing Changes. Do not turn off your computer."

When installed in Win 8.1 on an HP Envy TS m6 it kills the video (black screen), but the system still seems functional - disk activity continues, hibernates eventually, wakes, etc. Booting to safe mode works and the update can be uninstalled. Next boot brings back video in normal windows mode.

Hi

Exactly the same problem for me, unable to install the KB2903939 on a Windows Server 2012 R2, with the error code: 0x80070057

I tried the "windows update fix it" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058/
I tried the command DISM, I tried to stop update service, rename the "software distribution" folder, start service...

Nothings works. Any new idea please ?

This guidance worked for me on Windows 8.1:

Try copy/pasting this commands into an admin level Powershell prompt (Search for Powershell, right-click on it and choose Run as Administrator):

 set-service trustedinstaller -startuptype Disabled

reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS $env:windir\system32\config\COMPONENTS

Remove-Item -Path HKLM:\Components\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\* -Recurse

reg unload HKLM\COMPONENTS

set-service trustedinstaller -startuptype Automatic

Mark it as answer if it's good for you too !
