KB2286198 fails to install on windows 2008 R2 core servers
Hi, I tried installing KB2286198 on a few Windows 2008 R2 core servers using the below command "C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart It is failing with error "Windows update could not be installed because of error 2147942413 "The data is invalid." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart")" Can you please help me in fixing this? Also I've ran the command with /log option (full command is given below) but that is creating a .log and .dpx file. Both of them are not readable using notepad/wordpad. How do I read them? ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart /log:KB2286198.log") Thanks, Aruna

I have a very similar problem to the above user - while its been a long time since the initial post, I think this is still valid. I have install two 'patches' on a Win 7 Enterprise x64 machine using SCCM OSD. The patch installs fine, the log is unreadable in text viewers, and a dpx file is created also. I have also successfully installed the Remote Server Admin Tools with SP1 (which is an MSU file also), and the same has happened, the update installed OK, but the log file is unreadable and also a dpx file with the same filename as the log is created in the same folder. Can anyone explain the behaviour and offer a resolution?
