KB2286198 fails to install on windows 2008 R2 core servers
Hi, I tried installing KB2286198 on a few Windows 2008 R2 core servers using the below command "C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart It is failing with error "Windows update could not be installed because of error 2147942413 "The data is invalid." (Command line: ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart")" Can you please help me in fixing this? Also I've ran the command with /log option (full command is given below) but that is creating a .log and .dpx file. Both of them are not readable using notepad/wordpad. How do I read them? ""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\local\Windows6.1-KB2286198-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart /log:KB2286198.log") Thanks, Aruna

Try to install the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Server 2008. Download and run the tool, it will say that it's "installing"...it's actually running the readiness scan at this time so you should let the installation run to completion. The KB article says it will appear to hang at 60% completion and I've observed this as well. Just be patient and let it finish. This is a link to download it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821/en Install it and check if your problem is solved or not. Best regards.
