Java/JRE on Windows Server
How does one tell what applications use JAVA/JRE in a Windows 2003-2008 environment ? Is it possible to tell by registry keys?Thanks in advanced,Eric Sabo

If there is a such applicaton list, I think we can find it from Java Official website. Generally, the program will indicate it out if it need Java and provide the link to download Java. Here is a FAQ of Java, hope it helps.http://java.com/en/download/faq/index_general.xml

the applications reside on Windows 2003/2008. I just want to know which applications are using Java so I can contact the vendor to see if any updates toJava will break the application.I guess there is no easy way to tell which applications use Java on a particular windows Server.

Hi,
Yes, youre correct. There is no easy way to find all the applications based on Java. Disabling/uninstalling Java VM to check if any application need Java VM may take a long time to get the result.
I suggest contacting the manufacturer and Java/JRE Support to check if thereare any issues caused by update.
If possible, its suggested to setup a test machine to host applications. We can apply all updates on this test machine to make sure there is no conflict/trouble.
