Issue with enabling password policy

Team,

   Im trying to enable password policy for one  sql account and keeping the same password. This is on SQL 2008 R2 after enablling the policy i get locked out. Im not sure why if its because the account is being used by the application..

I did tested the same on a different server and it works fine.

Hello,

Maybe the password does not meet the complexity requirements of the password policy. Change it to something like P@$$w0rd to test.

No even if the policy is enforced on an existing password it will still be enabled and thats how is designed, and this is a service so we cannot unfortunately change the password.  I know this does not serve the purpose though but we will have to have that enabled.

What error message are you getting ? What do you mean "locked out"?

The issue is resolved, the account gets locked due to a bug in a reporting application.  The application had configuration to use a old password.  Thank you all for responding.
