Issue with copy/paste between 2 programs/windows inside RDP session

Hi all,

I hope someone is able to help me with the following issue. We run a Windows 2012 R2 server here for our co-workers as a Terminal Server. All of a sudden, a few weeks ago, people were complaining about the fact that they could not copy/paste text anymore from one e-mail to another.

I have looked into this but can't find a solution for this. All I find are things about copy/paste issues _between_ the local and remote desktop.
The problem we have is that, for instance, when I start Word, I can copy text _within_ one word document, no issues at all. But when I start a second document, I can't copy text from one document to the other. This happens not only in Word but for instance also in Excel, Outlook, Notepad.
Stopping/starting rdpclip.exe is not helpful in our case unfortunately. I have done a system file scan as well but to no avail.

The thing is, it wasn't like this before but suddenly started, for all users.

I hope someone has the solution for this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Marnix.

Hi Marnix,

All of a sudden, a few weeks ago, people were complaining about the fact that they could not copy/paste text anymore from one e-mail to another.

Would you recall that were there any changes made to terminal servers before the issue occurred?

You may try to update related drivers, disable third party software on terminal servers to test.

Best Regards,

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for the answer.

There were not changes to the server, other than some Windows updates.
I think I can pinpoint the day things started to go wrong so I will go start uninstall all the Windows updates one by one that were installed just before the problem began and hopefully find the source of the issue.

I will update this thread once I know more.

Kind regards,
Marnix.

Hi again,

I have uninstalled all the Windows/Office updates since people started complaining about the described issue, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to help.

As for the rest, nothing spectacular is installed on the server except for Adobe Acrobat and some DWG viewers (and MS office of course). Nothing which hasn't been there since the beginning.

I really hope someone will have the magic answer to solve this problem.
Not really excited about reinstalling everything. :)

Kind regards
Marnix.
