Is there a way to create an NFTS Junction point from a Network Drive?
Currently Im using mklink to create a link to a shared drive mklink /D c:\vivtest \\remotehost\jdk160 the problem with this is that some of the Applications (Java) dont recognize this folder link properly. Solution for me is to create a junction point instead I want to use the /J option, but it says that its not supported for shared drives. Is there any other way to create a junction point from a network shared location?

Have you considered a distributed file system? I think the stand-alone dfs namespace may solve your issue. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc757042(WS.10).aspx Roy Mayo | MCSE

Hi, You can have a test on following tool: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896768.aspx Meanwhile, I also consider the stand alone DFS is an option.Shaon Shan| TechNet Subscriber Support in forum| If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
