Is there a group policy setting to disable the security warning?
Hi, I am working on my server, and when a client logs into one machine to get their profile, they get the Open file secuirty warning message. Every time they click on a link I assume due to folder redirection or the roaming profile. Is there a Group policy I can add to the domain to disable this notice? I am hoping for a more seamless solution. <img src="http://iswarade.files.wordpress.com/2007/07/security-warning1.jpg?w=500" alt="security-warning1.jpg" /> Thanks, Rich Edit, sorry I was trying to attach an example file. Not mine but its the same message as mine.

I believe the following references the group policy you wish to edit: http://blog.alexou.net/2011/01/09/disable-open-file-security-warning-windows-7/Rob Williams

Sorry, Is there a way to do this on a domain controller? Each workstation that logs in gets the security warning error. I dont want to have to make this gpedit change on each individual workstation. Thanks, Rich

The same policy exists on Server 2008 and server 2008 R2 servers. You can link any policy to an OU containing your users and make the policy changes, to apply to all machines/users within your domain.Rob Williams

Is there a way to put my server name in, meaning anything from that server is trusted? So if my DC is called rich.tj that any files from that source are trusted? For example, when I open IE on my desktop using folder redirection & roaming profiles, I get a warning saying I am opening somethign from the server. I did edit the group policy under computer config>policies>admin template>windows components>IE>turns off the Security Settings. That didnt seem to work though. It should have shut it all down on all pc's. THanks, Rich

No, I am afraid the policy only allows exclusion of file types, not the sourceRob Williams

So my solution was to add my server information into IE: under local intralnet, uncheck that box & add the server. That seemed to stop the issue.

If that resolves your problem it is a better solution than a global policy disabling all. Thanks you for updating.Rob Williams
