Is it safe to add an additional CPU to a 2003R2 Server once the O/S is installed?
I have two production Dell Poweredge 2950's running Windows 2003R2 64bit. They are being used as terminal servers and currently only have 1 CPU. I know i've heard way back in the day this was a bad idea once the O/S was installed. I'm assuming it's safe, but just wanted some feed back from others. Any reason not to purchase and add an additional CPU?

Hello, some hardware changes(processor included) require a new activation for the software, except you are volume licensed. To be sure i would contact Microsoft support to get best answers for licensing/activation.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
