Is it possible to handle the folder size via domain policy?
Hello together, I would like to know if its possible to manage the local "User folders" on our Windows Server 2008 environment via domain policy. The reason why I am asking this is that we have orders from our management to minimize the local storage due to growing amout of data which we have to backup each week. From what I know it would be the easierst way to establish a domain wide policy which doesnt allow user to store data above a certain size (e.g < 100MB) in their particular profile. Otherwise I managed to create some time-consuming solutions with powershell, where I check all user folders for its size and if necessary move files to an external archive. Thank you in advance for your help - every input is appreciated! :-) Regards King Julien Regards / Freundliche Grsse King Julien

Hi, As iamrafic mentioned, we could manage disk quotas via Group Policy from the following path in GPMC: Computer Configuration Policies Administrative Templates System Disk Quotas to achieve the target. If we have configured Roaming Profile setting, we could also use Limiting Profile Size setting to set the maximum size of each roaming user profile and determine the systems response when a roaming user profile reaches the maximum size. For details, please refer to the following article. Assigning Profile and Disk Quotas http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781173(v=ws.10).aspx Regards, Andy
