Is Windows Server 2008 R2 thottling Lan client speeds?
I've seen similar posts, but I have a specific question. 2 win2008R2 file servers connected to switch via 10gb fiber 5 clients win7 connected to switch via 1gb cat5e copying file transfer speeds: download by client from another client 100MB/s download by client from server 65MB/s download by 5clients from server 65MB/s each = 325MB/s Server performance = just dandy. But.... The obvious question is...(drum roll) what mechanism could be limiting a per connection of 65MB/s. I'd like to take advantage of the server's full capabilities. Additional tests: download by server from server 65MB/s download by server from client 100MB/s So.. it only happens when a server gets a request for files. so, again, it's not a questione of performance "per se". It's a questioin about how windows 2008R2 (or it's intel 10gb xf sr ) limits 65MB/S per client connection.

Hi Andre511, Thanks for posting here. I’d like suggest to first verify if have set any QOS policy at OS perform level on both client and server and would also like to check the port settings on switch device if this is a configurable switch device to ensure didn’t have set any limitation that would possible effect transfer speed .Which NIC models are using on both server host ? have also installed NIC OEM tuning program ? I’d like suggest to refer to the performance tuning guide below to adjust network or storage parameters at OS level: Performance Tuning Guidelines for Windows Server 2008 R2 http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg463392 Thanks.
