Installing Server 2003 over WIn7
OK, most computers are installed with WIN7, but I need to install Server 2003 Enterprise (no r1 or r2) over WIN7. AMD Phenom Quad core, HP, 6GB ram, 1Tb hard drive.
The CD isn't getting to the Windows level due to error 0x78.
Is there an issue with the 1Tb disk or is the issue with the formatting of the HD? Recall, no r1 or r2...
Patch the install disk? Other?
Thanks!

Hello,
I think that you mean that you have BSODs.
Bug Check Code 0x78: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff559206(v=VS.85).aspx
This bug check occurs when an unexpected break is encountered during HAL initialization. This break can occur if you have set the /break parameter in your boot settings but have not enabled kernel debugging.
So, check your boot settings and try to reset BIOS settings.
You can try to use Virtual PC 2007 SP1 and run the 2003 Server as a virtual machine.

Yes, there is a BSOD, and the error has migrated slightly to 0x7B (as in "boy").
Anyway, during the Server install, the bottom line on the monitor indicates that it is "Starting Windows" after all the drivers load, and the system immediately (within 5 seconds) BSOD with the 0x7b error.
Here's what I've tried - Seagate Disk Manager and Fedora/Mint/Ubuntu live CDs. Ubuntu and Mint both fail - system goes into neverland. Fedora loads on the native (RAW) drive and formats it properly. Seagate DM was used to wipe the disk and install a 400Gb
partition, NTFS. Server 2003 sill fails to load with the same, 0x7b, error.
Is Server 2003 that sensitive to HD size? Will it not even load to a large drive (1TB) primary if it has a 400GB primary partition? I think that the answer lies in the boot, not the partition, but I can size it smaller.
