Hi sakurai_db,

From the SQL Server setup error you provide, we get an important error that installation of this product failed because it is not supported on this operating system.

Based on my research, this issue could occur when SQL Server Setup tries to install MSXML 6 Service Pack 2, it detects that the version of MSXML 6 from KB2758696 is already installed on the computer, therefore the validation fails and this stops the installation of both MSXML 6 and SQL Server 2005 Database Services.

To work around the issue, you could remove the following registry key after you take a backup of the registry, which will eventually fool the msxml6.msi to believe that MSXML6 is not installed on the machine:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes\7AB711B11CB5E91428E0D7F4F314C2B7.

In addition, another important error is that the highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for the currently selected features. So before you run Setup to install SQL Server 2005, please verify that you have 2.0 GB of available disk space on the system drive. And also make sure that your account has admin rights and you right-click the setup.exe and choose Run as administrator to install SQL Server.

Regards,
Michelle Li
