Installation and set-up

Hello,

During installations, I got the following error:

1)

Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.Sco.DirectoryAttributesMissmatch: Folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server has an unsupported attribute (Compressed) set. Please resolve this issue by removing the unsupported attribute from the folder using folder properties dialog.

2)

Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.SetupExtension.CompressedDirException: The specified directory, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\", for the INSTALLSHAREDDIR parameter is not valid because this directory is compressed or is in a compressed directory. Specify a directory that is not compressed.

3)

Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.SetupExtension.CompressedDirException: The specified directory, "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\", for the INSTALLSHAREDWOWDIR parameter is not valid because this directory is compressed or is in a compressed directory. Specify a directory that is not compressed.

Can you help with these errors?

Hello,

SQL Server cannot be installed on a compressed folder/drive.

SQL Server Setup will block installations on read-only, mapped, or compressed drives.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Do you have the drive or some folders encrypted (Bitlocker, etc.) too? SQL Server setup will block installation on compressed and encrypted drive.

Any chance you have left some folders compressed.

Have you disable any security software?

Hope this helps.

my C drive was compressed before but i have uncompressed it, as far as i know.

Or to uncompressed all my folders once again.

The following resources show a few ways to list those directories.

Yes I also getting the same errors. I had to restart my computer for some technical issue in between and then I tried to restart the installation but that's when I got all these errors listed above. Really need good help why we are getting these errors and what is this compressed director etc.   Thank you

The same problem happened to me probably because I restarted the computer in between due to some technical issue. I am sure someone can direct us an easy way.
