Installation WS 2008 with xp pro
Hello All,I currently am running windows xp pro on a pc and would like to install Windows Server 2008 Standard. I have a new hard drive for the install and I plan to do a Clean installation. My question is:After I do my clean install of windows server 2008 on a seperate hard drive under xp pro is my old xp pro hard drive going to be bootable and can I switch back an forth via the bios boot sequence?I realize I can then run my xp pro as a guest under Hyper-V, I just don't want to wipe out the xp pro system.Best Regards

Hi, You do not need to wipe the Windows XP partition. You can install the new hard drive as a slave drive and install Windows Server 2008 on it. Then you will have a Windows XP/Server 2008 dual boot system. Your Windows XP system will still work after Windows Server 2008 is installed and when starting the computer, you will have a option to choose which system to enter. Hope it helps. Tim Quan - MSFT
