Install Symantec on DC error
Anyone had any issues when trying to install Norton Endpoint Protection management tool on the server
It requires IIS, W3SVC services started, ASP.NET , CGI and IIS management Compatability
I could not find the IIS and W3SVC services but the other 3 have been installed.
I am still stuck on the error that requires all these to continue

Start --> run --> cmd --> Regedit --> Expand and right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\SVCHOST and modify allow Full Access for administrator. Then uninstall and reinstall IIShttp://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

Do you have another server to install the management tool? It's best not to have a DC do anything other than be a DC. Also, not a good thing, security wise, to have IIS running on a DC.

by any change is there somebody who knows if the windows firewall should be left disabled on both the server and the clients side as only when it is disabled are clients appearing in the Symantec End protection manager console, or should I allow any particular
program or port without disabling windows firewall ?

You definitely do not want to be without a firewall. I don't use Symantec (long story), but every "end point security" package I have seen includes a firewall. When you install the software, it will most likely disable the Windows firewall.
Are you having problems installing the Symantec/Norton software?

no its ok I installed it and it works ( not 100 % but it works )
As an example I still cannot initiate a scan from the server as it fails, but this is surely not something to do with this forum so I am not expecting replies
Thanks
