Information needs of Pricing & Billing of Azure Storage

I am planning to purchase Microsoft Azure Storage to backup my data. I have checked the pricing calculator and found out that the pricing for Block-Blob with LRS Storage as 0.024 per gb. In the pricing calculator the cost of storage for 1 TB comes to approximately 23 USD per month. I have a few queries regarding the same

1.Do I need to pay this fixed cost every month or is it only for the amount of data I store of Azure servers.
2.What if I backup up my hard drive in a months time say 500 GB and then for 2 months do not store any other data, what will be monthly billing. Will I need to pay for the other 2 months as well.
3.Does the cost of 0.24 per gb also include access cost. Say my hard disk crashes and I need to restore the entire 500 gb back to my local hard drive, what will be the cost.

Hi,

Yes. Storage capacity is billed in units of the average daily amount of data stored, in gigabytes (GB), over a monthly period. For example, if you consistently utilized 10 GB of storage for the first half of the month and none for the second half of the month, you would be billed for your average usage of 5 GB of storage.

For more information, check this:

For other information, I would suggest you contact Billing support, it's free, Please contact support team by creating a support ticket at:

They will be able to help you with this request.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mrcool,

All egress traffic from Azure to the world is paid.
So, if you need restore your data from Azure, you need to pay.

One question:
Why you don't use Azure Backup service?

Wow this is tough for a newbie like me. I  checked the Azure Backup Service and found out that the pricing is based on stored instances plus the cost of storage. What I could gauge from the information was that Azure backup is a dedicated service for backup of data with a software provided for that purpose, guess I am right. However from the calculations which I could figure out this costing will work out more than the Azure Cloud Storage

So in that case I feel it makes more sense to purchase Azure storage & have a software like cloud berry do the scheduled backups for you. Am I right on this. Also I am not getting a clue of what the cost of outgoing (data access) will be. In  rackspace it is pretty straight forward very very simple to understand here its a real difficult thing to know. Any help will be appreciated.
