Indexing Service installed in windows 2003 server Fails to Index some of the excel files
Hi, Indexing Service installed in windows 2003 server Fails to Index excel files (2003 - .xls) That Contain Range Names. We installed the hotfix "http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows%20Server%202003/sp3/Fix251224/3790/free/368611_ENU_i386_zip.exe" which is suggested in microsoft site to resolve this issue. But after installing this hotfix also, the issue is not resolved. When we save the ".xls" file to ".xlsx" file (we opened the .xls file in office 2010 and saved as .xlsx) the indexing server is able to index the file and return the results. But we want to use only ".xls" files. Please let us know a solution for this. Thanks, Ramesh

Hi Marius, We installed the patch "http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=13863", but no luck. The indexing server is still not returning the excel which we searched for. Is there any other way to resolve this issue? Thanks, Ramesh

Check the event log to see if there are any warrnings or errors and post them here if there are (Event ID and message). Also check out this article.MCTS - Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi Marius, We have followed the same article to setup the indexing service. Also, there are no errors or warnings in the Event viewer logged. Is there any other way we can find the issue ?
