Indexing Service
Hello & Thank you in advance.
I would like to know how I can add back in to my Control Panel the INDEXING OPTION link. It seems to have disappeared. Or is there another way I can access this option quickly?
I have Windows 2008 Server 32-Bit Standard install.

Hello and Thank you for your response.
I don't have this type of setup in Windows 2008 Server.
Any other advice.
I already setup the SEARCH in Server Manager. It seems to be working but I can't access the INDEXING OPTIONS link in the Control Panel, it has disappeared.

Hello & Thank you for replying. I don't have the options listed above for win2k8 server. It takes me directly to the Server Manager when clicking Features & Programs.
I do have the Search feature (role) installed, but it does not show up in the Control Panel or when trying to enable the Snap-In setup as listed in the first link you provided.
Should I uninstall and reinstall this feature? And should I uninstall the File Services and reinstall it?
I don't show INDEXING SERVICE listed in the available Snap-Ins as shown below:
Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then press ENTER.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
In the Available snap-ins list, click Indexing Service, and then click
Add. In the Connect to Computer dialog box, click Local computer: (the computer this console is running on), and then click
Finish. To close the Add or Remove Snap-ins dialog box, click
OK. The console displays the Indexing Service snap-in.
Regards

Hi,
Since you hava tried to find the Indexing Service option in the Control Panel and server manager, but the Indexing Service option still disappeared.
So could you please let me know the value of the following registry key?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Cpls
If the value of the registry key doesn't exist, you need to add the Expandable String value to register the srchadmin.dll file.
Add New Expandable String Value (REG_EXPAND_SZ)
Name: SearchAdmin
Value: %SystemRoot%\System32\srchadmin.dll
Please let me know whether it works after adding the value above.James Xiong
