Indexing Service
Hi I want to install Indexing Services on 2008 r2, File Server is already installed but there appears to be no Indexing Service installed. In server manager and under Windows Server 2003 File Services I can see Indexing Service as Not installed. Is this what I need to install as it appears under 2003 and I'm running 2008 ? Thanks

In server 2008 the indexing service is a role service under File Services. To enable it, do as follows: - Open Server Manager -> Roles -> File Services - In the right pane, scroll to Role Services and choose "Add Role Services" - Complete the wizard, checking the checkbox for Indexing Service.

You need to select "Windows Search Service" Indexing Services under Windows Server 2003 is not the one you want for Server 2008 R2Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
