Incorrect hotfix password
I have just requested hotfix:
KB Article Number(s): 2265716
Language: All (Global)
Platform: x64
Location:
2397/7600/free/417038_intl_x64_zip.exe)
which apparently may help to stop Windows freezing up all the time.
However - the password sent in the e-mail just doesn't work (I have made 2 separate requests, and am 'cut-and-pasting' the pw from mail into the dialog box) - the entry field just clears when you press 'ok' or hit return.
I have installed hotfixes before with no problem - what can be done ?

I am trying to get a fix for Hit fix 976038. The password provided will not work on the zip.
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows%207/WindowsServer%202008%20R2/sp1/Fix299104/7600/free/399369_intl_x64_zip.exe
The Microsoft support site has an alert that says there is a problem with hotfix passwords that is fixed and to get it again. So, I did that and it gave me the same file name and password that still does not work.

you might need to contact Microsoft and have them provide you with the hotfix directly.

How do you contact Microsoft without paying big bucks? Every avenue I have tried to contact them resulted in payment requests.
They seem to know there is something wrong with Hot fix zip passwords considering the alert on the way to Microsoft support.

I just noticed that there is a service pack coming for Windows 7 that will be generally available on February 22.
Can I assume the the problem "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976038/en-us - Exceptions that are thrown from an application that runs in a 64-bit version of Windows are ignored" will be
included in the service pack? Is there a way for me to find out? Seems stupid that it wouldn't be.
If I know it will be in the service pack I can just wait. I have already worked for several months having to restart my development application Unity every time there is runtime error, another couple weeks is not big deal.

Hi,
The hotfix servers are having issues right now. Microsoft is aware of this issue and will fix it as soon as possible. You may wait for a while and then
try to download hotfix again. If it is urgent, please call 1-800-Microsoft (or your local MS office) and ask for the free hotfix. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Apparently it's not
completely fixed... the password I was sent for
http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows%20XP/sp4/Fix269782/2600/free/389164_ENU_i386_zip.exe appears to be wrong also.
I've done some due diligence, downloading via the public internet to confirm the file wasn't cached on the servers at work, getting other people to attempt to download/unzip, manually typing the password, copying the password.
I currently have several users affected by a printing issue which apparently needs this HotFix to rectify.
Does anyone know how I can go about getting this HotFix?
Brendan
