In house mail service
We have a customer with Small Business Server 2003 Standard, 10 CALS. They would like to use exchange for an in house mail server, within their network, no Internet connection for mail. They would like to have users connect to mail only. Can this be accomplished without purchasing additional CALS? ANy suggestions for implementation? Thanks

As long as all of the usershave SBS 2003 CALs and are connecting to the Exchange server that comes with SBS, you're good. If they have more than 10 users, then they'll need more CALs.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/sbs/howtobuy/licensing.mspxdiscusses the CALs.Also found in http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsServer2003/sbs/evaluation/faq/licensing.mspx: Q: Does the SBS 2003 R2 CAL allow me to access other servers running Exchange Server 2003 or SQL Server 2005 on the network? A: Yes. If you are running SBS 2003 R2, you are allowed to access any other servers running Windows Server 2003 R2, Exchange Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition or SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition within your SBS 2003 R2 domain.
