Image and WDS
I have to deliver my last task to my teacher soon but I really don't know the answer here. Maybe someone could help.
10 old computers are going to get installed a image for windows 7, that is on a WDS server. The nettwork card does not support PXE.
WIM image is aranged and established, WDS run as Transport and Deployment and answer vocation, DHCP server runs as it's own server and have scope option 60 accessible, but no answer file is created.
1. How do you get these 10 computers to bring down the image from WDS they suppose to have when PXE are not supported?
2. When using Scope Option 60, what kind of challenge kan occur?
3. Dokument how you can make an answer file that automatically shows right timezone, and keyboard, and establish a 40GB partition of windows 7 installation. You also have to document how this will work together with automatic roling out clients.
4. How can we make sure that just computers that are known in the Active Directory can install image from WDS?
I'm very greatful for all help.

Hi,
Let me answer your questions:
1. How do you get these 10 computers to bring down the image from WDS they suppose to have when PXE are not supported?
For computers not supporting PXE, you should create a Discovery Image. For detailed information, please refer to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637996(WS.10).aspx
2. When using Scope Option 60, what kind of challenge kan occur?
If DHCP and Windows Deployment Services are running on the same computer, then you should configure this option.
3. Dokument how you can make an answer file that automatically shows right timezone, and keyboard, and establish a 40GB partition of windows 7 installation.
You also have to document how this will work together with automatic roling out clients.
You can read this website:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771830(WS.10).aspx
To create unattend files, you’d better use WAIK. WAIK can be downloaded from the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=696dd665-9f76-4177-a811-39c26d3b3b34
You can read the Help document in WSIM to find how to customize the configurations such as timezone, and keyboard, and establish a 40GB partition of
windows 7 installation.
4. How can we make sure that just computers that are known in the Active Directory can install image from WDS?
You can prestage your computers in AD and enable the Auto-Add policy. For detailed information, please refer to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770832(WS.10).aspx
Hope it helps.

Thank you so very much. This helps a lot. I have learned a lot just from your answers. And I have been reading and writing almost without sleeping ;-)
But I have to ask what do you mean by the help document in WSIM?
I feel my head is going to explode with information. But I like it. I just hope I can get it all down on paper so I can get good grades. Because this is what I want to work with. :)
Thank you so much for helping me understand this.

Hi,
You are so diligent.
WSIM is Windows System Image Manager which is included in WAIK. When WAIK is installed, you can open WSIM and click Help to find its help documents.
You can also read the documents on the following website:
