I am looking for rmtshare.exe for Windows Server 2008
Can anyone tell me, why there are no resource kit tools for os after windows server 2003? I need this tool. Can I use the one from an older resource kit?

1. rmtshare should work, but is not supported. I found a statement of MS engn.on the forum.
2. Printed edition with tools on CD http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/book.aspx?ID=10345&locale=en-us
3. You will not find similar RK as in previous versions of WS, but there is a couple of free tools, that you can make use of. I know, this is not exact answer, but Poweshell would help you to do a lot of deployment, maintenance, etc tasks. It deserves
your attention :-)

RMTSHARE.EXE works fine with X64 systems people get confused because the self extracting .EXE at the ftp site refuses to extract on x64. You can extract the contents on a non x64 machine then import it on x64 machineshttp://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

@ milos,
thanks for your reply. i'll try the old one then. the printed edition is a bit expensive for my purposes i just need the tool. And I'm working fine with powershell but got some problems writing a script for sharing directories automated. That's why
I'd like to use rmtshare.exe. but powershell definitely has my attention. ;-)
@ syed,
this is in fact confusing. there aren't any free capacities to change this behavior are there? :D
