The ITIL is a set of standards developed by the U.K Office of Government and Commerce to support IT service management. It is composed of 5 areas: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement. Please see http://www.itil-officialsite.com/Publications/Core.asp I would also recommend looking at the Microsoft Operations framework 4.0, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc506049.aspx -- Mike Burr

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a set of concepts and practices for Information Technology Services Management (ITSM), Information Technology (IT) development and IT operations. ITIL gives detailed descriptions of a number of important IT practices and provides comprehensive checklists, tasks and procedures that any IT organization can tailor to its needs. ITIL is published in a series of books, each of which covers an IT management topic. The names ITIL and IT Infrastructure Library are registered trademarks of the United Kingdom's Office of Government Commerce (OGC). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Technology_Infrastructure_Library Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ http://publications.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
