IPSEC services could not start
Hi all,
I've a Windows 2003 R2 x64 SP2 server. Today I rebooted the machine for maintanance but after the startup IPSEC service didn't start.
When I tried to start the service IPSEC service I got the error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
I found a nice howto that resolved my issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912023
In my registry I was unable to find the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\IPSec\Policy\Local
I just registered the polstore.dll library and then I was able to start the IPSEC service.
My question is: who deleted the registry subkey?
Thanks,

Hi,
We may be able to get some useful information in Event Viewer. Were there any errors logged before the issue occurred? This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. I had the exact same problem! also could not find the registry key, but I skipped that part and went straight ahead to Rebuild a new local policy store, that seemed to fix the problem for me. apperantly its an update rolled out by MS that caused the problem
for me.
