Hello, When installing 2008R2 Enterprise that will have Hyper V installed does the server install have to be the domain controller No. or is the hyper v role configured as a domain controller This is not recommended. It is recommended to run AD on another server or as a VM if needed. If you want to have virtual DCs then I recommend having at least one physical DC with DNS, a GC and all FSMO roles. Hello, if the Hyper-V roles is installed on a server NEVER use this machine for anything else, especially NOT as DC. Be aware that installing the Hyper-V role result in creating the parent VM which will mange all other installed VMs.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
