I am looking to set up a small virtual network using VMM and Hyper V for multiple software testing environments. I am being told that I can install Server 2008 R2 on a 32 bit machine that has 8 G of RAM. Almost everything I have read tells me this cannot (or should not?) be done. Will a 32 bit processor support a Server 2008 R2 OS? Will Hyper-V technology be accessible? Will it be able to utilize the 8 G of RAM as well as take advantage of the upcoming virtual memory of Server 2008 R2 SP1?
