Hyper V- SCVMM in Server 2008 R2 But, on a 32 bit machine with quad core and 8 G RAM
I am looking to set up a small virtual network using VMM and Hyper V for multiple software testing environments. I am being told that I can install Server 2008 R2 on a 32 bit machine that has 8 G of RAM. Almost everything I have read tells me this cannot (or should not?) be done. Will a 32 bit processor support a Server 2008 R2 OS? Will Hyper-V technology be accessible? Will it be able to utilize the 8 G of RAM as well as take advantage of the upcoming virtual memory of Server 2008 R2 SP1? Are there any other issues I should be aware of?I thank you for your input.Certified Partner Time and Attendance Integration

Hi, Here is the basic requirements for Windows Server 2008 R2. Minimum: Single processor with 1.4 GHz (x64 processor) or 1.3GHz (Dual Core) Note: An Intel Itanium 2 processor is required for Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems For more information, you can refer to: Windows Server 2008 R2 System Requirements http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/system-requirements.aspx By the way, Hyper-V need a X64 processor, and Hyper-V is only available with the 64bit of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2(which only available with 64bit) System Requirements http://www.microsoft.com/hyper-v-server/en/us/system-requirements.aspx Best Regards, Vincent Hu
