How to use WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.vhd in a client of Windows XP sp3

Dear all nice guys,
I want to learn Windows 2008 R2 by myself so I downloaded the file(WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.vhd ) from Micosoft official website.
But then I could not open the file in my client (Windows XP sp3). I have tried the open by both VMware 7.0 and Virtual PC sp1, all the

trying failed.
So how can I use WS2008R2Fullx64Ent.vhd in my XP (32bit )?

Thank you in advance
Franklin hong

In order to use this evaluation package you will need to have Microsoft Hyper-V installed on a physical machine.
Hyper-V is available on Windows Server 2008 only and the details on how to install Hyper-V can be found
here. Details of how to setup the VHD are included in the documentation that accompanies the product.
Look here for other ways-

In addition to other I would also say that your should have a 64 bit architecture with inlet or AMD supported virtualization platform other wise the .VHD wont be running.
I also strong encourage you to Install a Windows 8 client as hyper-v is builtin and you can use it without adding any third parties.
