We have used automatic SQL azure database backup options from the portal. We need to know the steps/options for restoring that database from the backup.

Did you means that you use SQL Database Import/Export Service to export the database to a Windows Azure storage account?
If so, you can restore the database by import a new database from the .bacpac file.For the detail steps, please refer to the "Import a Database" parts from the following article:
